PARIA RIVER RANCH TRAINING DAYS

We have partnered with Paria River Ranch for another jam packed training session of all things regarding Skills, Mindset and Tactics!!  You will return home worn out and tired.  PLAN ON FIXING / EATING ALL YOUR MEALS AT THE RANCH.  There will not be enough time to go anywhere else to eat.

On Oct 19, (Wed evening at 5 pm) we will conduct a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit class.  Everything you need to apply will be provided.  Show up before 5 pm – cause at 5 pm we will close the doors.  Bring your fingertips (for your fingerprints), face (for your passport picture), Utah DL (for your packet) and $65 cash, venmo or paypal.

Thurs morning (Oct 20) at 8 am we will start Handgun 1 (short name – long name is Gunfighting with Handguns 1) and that will finish sometime between 3 and 6 pm depending upon a few factors.  After HG1 it will be sit around the campfire and tell lies haha!  Seriously sitting around the fire was the highlight for me the last time we did the Paria River Ranch training days.  Tuition for HG1 is $200 and requires 250 rounds of ammunition.

Here is some of what you will learn in HG1:

  • How to properly hold the handgun (one handed and two handed)
  • How to safely holster your gun
  • How to safely and efficiently draw your gun
  • How to safely load and unload
  • How to safely reload and clear malfunctions (what to do when the gun jams)
  • How to shoot a handgun with very precise accuracy
  • How to shoot your handgun very fast and when to know the difference between extreme accuracy and fast with “good enough” accuracy
  • How to fix your flinch response
  • How to shoot well with either hand
  • How to move safely with a gun in your hand
  • The difference between moving and maneuvering
  • How to effectively use things to hide behind and how shoot the bad while you are exposing the least amount of you to enemy gunfire’
  • You will learn the #1 rule for gunfighting as civilian
  • You will learn the importance of Skills, Mindset and Tactics
  • You will perform some tactical exercises to put all the above together

Friday morning (Oct 21) at 8 am we will start HG2.  It is more high paced, faster tempo than HG1.  HG1 is a prerequisite for HG2.  That will end sometime in the late afternoon and the will conclude around the camp fire again.  HG2 tuition is $200 and requires 400 rounds of ammunition.

Here is some of the things you will learn in HG2:

  • One handed malfunction clearance
  • Shooting while moving/maneuvering
  • Reloading while moving/maneuvering
  • Malfunction clearance while moving/maneuvering
  • Moving/maneuvering through a crowd while armed
  • Using a flashlight with a handgun (handheld light and mounted light)
  • Shooting accurately under tremendous stress
  • Shooting multiple targets with high speed and acceptable accuracy
  • 2 person teams tactics
  • Personal Protection Detail (PPD) tactics (you are the chief PPD Team Leader for your family)
  • You will perform tactical scenarios that will allow you to put all of the above together, safely and effectively.

Saturday morning (NOVBEMBER 26) at 8 am we will start Carbine 1 (CAR1) – long name Gunfighting with Carbines 1.  It will be an all day event.  Bring 300 rounds of ammuntion.  Among other things you will learn:

  • How to properly hold the carbine (left and right shoulder)
  • How to safely use a sling
  • How to safely and efficiently bring the gun up (or down) to your firing platform (your “stance”)
  • How to safely load and unload
  • How to safely reload and clear malfunctions (what to do when the gun jams)
  • How to shoot a carbine with very precise accuracy
  • How to shoot your carbine very fast and when to know the difference between extreme accuracy and fast with “good enough” accuracy
  • How to fix your flinch response
  • How to shoot well from both shoulders
  • How to move safely with a gun in your hand
  • The difference between moving and maneuvering
  • How to effectively use things to hide behind and how shoot the bad while you are exposing the least amount of you to enemy gunfire’

There are cabins to rent for your stay, there is also RV/Trailer hook ups for rent too as well at areas to pitch a tent.  Paria River Ranch will offer discounts for your stay.

EQUIPMENT LIST for the HANDGUN classes:

  • Your handgun with a quality holster, plus a couple of magazines (3 minimum – more preferred), and a magazine carrier (pockets work if you don’t have one of these) a good quality holster that isn’t much money is this model: http://www.unclemikes.com/products/holsters/kydex-holsters/kydex-paddle-holsters   NYLON or LEATHER HOLSTERS ARE DISCOURAGED.  Get a Kydex holster (black plastic).
  • A good thick, STURDY leather or nylon belt.  No cloth or woven leather belts!!
  • Ammo for handgun – 250 rounds (more is better – 250 is min round count) for HG1 and 400 for HG2.
  • Handheld Flashlight and/or Handgun mounted light for HG2.
  • Eye protection/Ear protection (electronic preferred)
  • Sleeping pad or ground cloth
  • Water/Meals/Snacks – there is no place to go to get lunch or snacks, so bring food.

EQUIPMENT LIST for the CARBINE classes:

  • Your carbine (AR, AK, SKS, M1 Carbine, M1 Garand, M14, FN FAL, etc etc etc)
  • Minimum of 2 magazines (or a bunch of stripper clips if running a SKS)
  • Magazine pouches – however pockets are acceptable
  • Ammo
  • For CAR2 a handheld flashlight (it would be nice if there is a light mounted on your carbine, but this is not mandatory)
  • Eye protection/Ear protection
  • Sleeping pad or ground cloth
  • Water/Meals/Snacks
